Description

Arrakeen: The Imperial Residency | A Dune-Inspired Wall Diorama

Bring the harsh, brutalist beauty of Arrakis to your walls. This diorama captures the scale and atmosphere of the  Arrakeen palace  and shadowed by the presence of a Guild Heighliner.

The Design

This model is inspired by the "Brutalist" architectural language of the Dune universe. It features the massive, stepped Residency of the Atreides, a structure designed to withstand 800 km/h Coriolis storms. Suspended above the city is a Spacing Guild Heighliner, representing the vital link to the Spice and the rest of the Imperium.

Model Features

  • Layered Depth: Designed to be printed in separate components for a true 3D effect.
  • Scale & Detail: Includes the central palace, the protective mountain range, and a high-altitude spacecraft.
  • Integrated Nameplate: Features a stylized "ARRAKEEN DUNE" embossed title at the base.
  • Wall Mountable: Balanced for easy hanging or shelf display.
  • NO AMS needed except for nameplate

✨ Integrated LED Lighting

The frame includes a hidden internal channel designed to house a standard LED strip.

  • The Effect: When turned on, the light bleeds from the edges of the frame, silhouetting the Palace and the Freighter.
  • Pro Tip: Use a Warm White or Amber LED to replicate the desert heat, or a Deep Blue to simulate the "Night of the Arrakis."

Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PLA (Matte Black for the architecture, Gold/Copper for the spire, and  Sand-colored matte pla for the background).
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm (Standard)
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm (0.12mm recommended for the ship and palace).
  • Infill: 10-15% (Gyroid).
  • Supports: Mostly not required for most parts if printed flat; supports needed for printing the frame parts.

This is amazing. I'm going to get some filament in the right colors and give it a print. Need to figure out how to do some LED work too. Great work!

I should be able to figure it out, I just have never done any LED things before. I love this though and I can't wait to print it. You absolutely killed it on this design. So rad.

hey thanks! Your feedback encourages me to work on other similar projects as well. Just thinking of freemen themed diorama. maybe some old superstructures buried inside the sand and sandworm roaming around or even swallowing the harvester :)

What is the frame assembly process? I can't figure out the 3 short, 1 long and 2 corner type black pieces.

hey, the frame assembly should look like this. on the print-plate the small details next to frame on the left bottom are optional clips for securing led strip inside the frame. usually led strip comes with sticker so you probably might not need those clips. I am still quite noob creator here so please forgive me not adding better assembly instructions. I am learning as well.
