Leopold George Christian Frederick of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld – Bust
This bust depicts Leopold I of Belgium, founder of the Belgian monarchy and a major historical figure. Inspired by the most well-known photograph of the sovereign, this model faithfully captures his defining features: a time-marked face, a deep gaze, and a serious expression conveying both authority and thoughtfulness.
He is portrayed in military attire, reflecting his background and his crucial role in building and stabilizing Belgium after its independence in 1830. As the first King of the Belgians, Leopold I symbolizes the birth of a modern state and played a key diplomatic role in maintaining the balance of power in 19th-century Europe.
