After some additional research, it seems higher trim model F150s, those with factory upgraded stereo systems in particular, have a different style latch. It is square/diamond shaped. I will try to find a test subject, get dimensions, and work on a "universal" design that will work for both.
Many Ford F-150 rear seats can fold forward for access to the storage area behind themâbut Ford didnât include a proper release handle. From the factory you typically have to reach into the seat gap and pull a small metal latch with your fingers or a random tool.
This 3D printed release handle mechanism solves that problem by adding an easy-to-grab pull handle that mounts directly to the rear of the seat.
Pull the ring â the latch releases â the seat folds forward.
Simple and convenient.
Â
Features
- Adds an easy-to-grab pull handle for the rear seat latch
- No more digging into the seat gap to find the release
- Mounts directly to the existing latch mechanism
- Durable 3D printed design
- Clean installation that stays hidden behind the seat
Â
How It Works
The printed bracket attaches to the rear seat latch assembly and holds a pull strap with a ring. Pulling the ring actuates the latch, allowing the rear seat back to tilt forward and expose the storage area behind it.
Â
Installation
(You will need a Torx T30 socket to remove the latch's bolts.)
- Access the latch area on the back of the rear seat.
- Mount the printed bracket to the latch assembly.
- Route the handle through the mechanism.
- Test the handle to confirm it releases the seat.
Installation typically takes just a few minutes with basic tools.
