Description

Minimal 3D Printed Toy Crossbow

This compact, pistol-style toy crossbow is a simple and functional 3D printed design made for light use and display. Its minimal form keeps the build easy while still providing a satisfying mechanical action.

The design includes a lightweight frame, flexible bow arms, and a basic trigger system. It launches small, blunt plastic bolts using a simple string setup.

Features

  • Compact, one-handed design
  • easy to print
  • Simple trigger mechanism
  • Minimal hardware required
  • Beginner-friendly assembly

String Installation Instructions:

Materials

  • Strong string (nylon cord, paracord inner strand, or fishing line)
  • Scissors

Steps

  1. Cut a length of string slightly longer than the distance between the bow tips.
  2. Tie one end securely to a notch on one bow arm using a tight knot.
  3. Bend the bow arms forward slightly and pull the string across to the other side.
  4. Tie the second end to the opposite notch while maintaining tension.
  5. Adjust so the string sits centered and firm, but not overly tight. Trim excess.

Caution
This crossbow is a toy but should still be used responsibly. Avoid aiming at eyes, faces, or pets. Use soft projectiles for safe indoor fun.

Notes

  • Designed as a toy

  • Use only blunt, lightweight bolts

  • Avoid over-tightening the string to prevent damage

  • PLA+ or PETG recommended for better durability
