Description

Have you ever wanted to command the ocean the the creatures that dwell in its waters? Well, now you can!! Print your very own King of the Seas Trident. 🔱🧜

I modeled the trident in Blender and 3D printed this for a stage prop for a production of The Little Mermaid.  I printed it in Sunlu PLA+ 2.0. I primed the trident in flat black, then used gold rub and buff on the entire trident and pole. The sea creatures (Starfish, barnacles and pearls) were painted in acyrilic paints. You can use the 3D printed threaded poles or a 1 1/8" wooden dowel for the staff. If you use a wooden dowel, print the pole adapter.

Size

  • Total Height: ~18.5" x 10.2" x 1.8" (trident head)
  • Scalable depending on desired prop size
  • Each pole section is 9.8 inches tall
  • Designed to attach to a longer staff using included pole adapter (example shown mounted on ~5 ft pole)

Design

  • Modeled in Blender
  • Raised barnacle and pearl clusters along the arms
  • Starfish accents at the base of the prongs

Yes, the rectangular holes will hold the printed pins.

did you paint it with gold spray paint? would you say its best to print black for the gold spray paint or white?

I did two coats of flat black spray paint. Then I used gold leaf rub 'n buff for the color. You can use gold spray paint if you want instead. I had good experience with the rub 'n buff before and it gives it a really good brushed metallic look. Personally, I like printing in black or grey over white. Especially if I'm post processing and painting. The darker filament colors make a better base. Have fun printing. Thanks!!
