Vents for Custom Cushion - Bigscreen Beyond 1/2/2e

What it does:

• Introduces large airflow channels directly below each eye
• Wards off the "swamp eyes" effect from accumulated heat and moisture
• Gives your tears and/or sweat somewhere to go, and enough airflow to dry naturally
• Reduces cushion weight

Caveats:

• The hole in your cushion is permanent! But you could probably save the cut material and stuff it back in place, if your really wanted to.
• Doesn't 100% block light. It's more like 90-95%. I have never found it to be distracting or a problem.

I've been daily driving the vented cushion for 16 months. The satisfaction is real! I can always tell a difference when I use my other unmodified cushion at the office.

Here are the files for anyone who wants to try it. Print the stencils first so you can ensure sure you have enough material on the bottom before you proceed with the mod and start cutting. You will need to print two of each file, with the copy mirrored for the left side. For printing, I recommend setting the supports threshold to 40deg, and printing the vent at a 45deg angle. Organic tree supports are best, though you may have to snip and fish them out of the vents.

What's the difference with V2?

Version 2 makes the airflow channel larger by cutting out the ceiling of the vent. This means less hard plastic on the other side from your cheeks, enabling the cushion shape to be more accommodating to your cheekbones. I include V1 here because it is easier to print. But the V2 performance is a bit better!

There is also now a 6mm (narrower) version of this for people with thinner cushions.
