Meet the safest chainsaw ever made.

This April Fools print turns a simple visual joke into a physical object:
a saw handle connected to a chain… making a “chain-saw.”

It won’t cut wood, trim branches, or clear a forest — but it will definitely get a few laughs when someone picks it up expecting a real tool.

The model is designed as a simple novelty prop that prints easily and makes a great desk toy, prank item, or conversation starter.

Whether you leave it on a workbench, bring it to a maker meetup, or hand it to a friend who “needs a chainsaw,” the joke usually lands once they notice the chain.

Assembly:
Take the half link printed on the same build plate as the chain and pass it through one of the end links on the chain. Then push the half link into the two holes on the saw handle.

Depending on your printer and tolerances, this may be a tight fit and could require a little force. It was designed this way so the chain can be secured without glue.

A Quick Note
Each model is tested before sharing, but every printer is a little different — sometimes a small tweak is all it takes for a perfect print. If you run into trouble, try:

  • Giving your build plate a good clean
  • Rechecking bed leveling or Z-offset
  • Slowing down the first few layers
  • Using a brim or raft for extra grip

Still having issues? Let me know in the comments — I’m always happy to help troubleshoot or improve the design!
