I am super happy to share my latest project with you: a complete mechanical transmission kit (gears and pulleys), ideal for fun, learning, or just having a super satisfying mechanism to spin on your desk!

I spent quite a bit of time refining the design to make it as pleasant as possible to print and use. The great novelty of this model is that it prints 100% without any support. You start the print, remove the parts from the build plate, and it's ready to be assembled. I even included a small custom "fork" wrench to hold the mechanism securely in hand while you spin it!

Assembly tip (VERY IMPORTANT!) To make the mechanism robust and avoid the need for a single drop of glue, I designed the fasteners with very tight tolerances. To insert the two small locking caps that hold the gears

  1. Slide your gears onto the shafts
  2. Place the caps
  3.  flat on a solid table
  4. Place the cap on the tip of the shaft, and push down with your full body weight using the palm of your hand. Don't be shy, you need to apply good force for it to perfectly snap onto the fixed shaft! Once in place, it's ultra-solid and will spin infinitely without ever slipping.

Printing tips

  • Layer height 0.08 mm
  • Infill 15% is largely sufficient

Don't hesitate to share photos of your prints (I can't wait to see what color combinations you'll choose!) and leave a little boost or comment if you like the design
