Mini Pocket Frisbee-100ft
Print Profile(1)

Description
his project started with a simple idea: make a pocket-sized flying disc that anyone can print instead of buying a new ZipChip every time one gets lost.
Version 1 of this project was a very simple test — basically a cylinder with a finger groove — just to see if the concept would work. After a lot of testing and several prototypes, Version 2 introduces a much more refined aerodynamic shape that flies significantly better.
The goal of this design is to create a small, fun, pocket-size throwing disc that performs similarly to a ZipChip while being easy to print at home.
Features
• Pocket-size flying disc (≈60 mm diameter)
• Finger groove for forehand “skip-stone” throws
• Refined aerodynamic shape for smoother flight
• Stable flight with minimal wobble
With a clean throw, the current design is capable of stable flights around 70 ft, and development is ongoing to push that distance even farther.
Printing
Recommended starting settings:
Layer height: 0.16–0.2 mm
Walls: 3
Infill: 50-60%
Supports: yes
Orientation: on it's side
Materials that work well:
• PETG (good durability)
• PLA (easy printing)
• TPU (closer feel to the original ZipChip)
Throwing
This disc works best when thrown forehand like skipping a stone. Aim for a fast spin and a mostly flat release with the concave side facing the ground.
Development
This is Version 2 of the design and a big step up from the original prototype. I'm continuing to test and refine the aerodynamics and plan to release a Version 3 with even better glide and distance.
If you print one, I’d love to hear:
• what material you used
• how far you can throw it
• any ideas for improvements
Feel free to post your results or remixes! thanks for taking the time to look at this!
