🎥 Movie-Accurate "Rocky" – Project Hail Mary 🎥

Update 4/7/26:  I created some decent assembly guides. I would recommend using them as you pull parts off the bed:

UPDATE 3/28/26 - By request, I added a whole/static version of the same model as another profile option.  Hope you like him!! FIST MY BUMP!!!

Description

This is the definitive, movie-accurate model of Rocky from the upcoming Project Hail Mary film. While fans of the book know Rocky’s biological description well, this model captures the unique mechanical and aesthetic direction taken for the silver screen.

Designed by Timberlake Creations, this is a high-fidelity, poseable figure that stands as a testament to Eridian engineering. The model is composed of 11 individual pieces. The main body is designed to be assembled using pins and glue for maximum structural integrity, while each limb features my proprietary custom-designed ball-and-socket joints, allowing for a full range of organic movement and expressive posing.

⚠️ Technical Warning & Usage

THIS IS A HARD PRINT, and if you try it in PLA, IT WILL BREAK!!!!. This model is intended to be printed in a more flexible material than PLA. The tolerances on the ball-and-socket connections are precise to ensure the joints hold their pose without being loose, but they have to flex on assembly. I TIRED it in PLA and most of it worked, but it was PERFECT with Nylon!

  • Failures may occur: Especially during the socket prints if your retraction and cooling aren't dialed in.
  • Assembly: Use the provided pin slots to align the torso halves before gluing.
  • Post-Processing: Lightly sand the balls of the joints if the fit is too tight to avoid snapping the sockets during initial assembly.

The History of Rocky

In Andy Weir's universe, Rocky is a brilliant engineer from the planet Erid, who teams up with Ryland Grace to save their respective solar systems. This "Movie Version" brings a more tactile, articulated look to the character, moving away from the "spider-like" book description toward something that feels truly cinematic and functional.

Remix Potential & Alternative Uses

While this is a character model, the Timberlake Joint System used here is a feat of CAD design.

  • Keywords for Remixers: Articulated Robot, Ball Joint System, Action Figure Base, Mechanical Puppet, Sci-Fi Diorama.
  • Feel free to use the torso as a base for other "multiped" alien designs or use the joint tolerances to create your own articulated creatures!
