Description

This adapter is based on the template provided by the designer of Moon Lamp 2.0, Syranide. I have these two Ikea Navlinge lamps on the wall behind the bed. They really need a lampshade, but I haven't found anything I liked. I loved the idea of printing Moon Lamp 2.0 for the purpose! This creator was so kind as to tee us up with a template, so I jumped in! The lamp is brighter than I'd like, so I laid a thin layer all the way over the opening to diffuse the intense light. However, those cone-shaped bulbs screw on and I needed more stability to support the weight of the moon model. So, I added the rings to reinforce the area, and add a nice design element. I'm no pro! In fact, this will be my first published model, if it makes it through the gates!

Technical note: I would be mindful that you print the moon and the adapter from the same PLA, I used two different brands of white filament I had on different printers, and the shrinkage was different enough that I had to work to get it seated in the moon. It worked, but there was a moment of question while I wrestled with it.

This may be compatible with other lamps/bulbs, for a quick check, the threads of this cone-shaped bulb are about 8mm in diameter. I made my opening 9mm, and with shrinkage, it was just right for the ABS threads of this bulb to self thread through and fit snugly enough to feel sure it's secure. Then the bulb was re-threaded to the lamp, and finally the Moon seated on the adapter.

Thank you for the encouragement, Syranide!
