A simple deshroud mod to swap the stock ASUS Dual 2070 Super fans for two 120mm fans. Way quieter, much better temps, totally custom.
Description
Designed this for my ASUS Dual RTX 2070S. Ditch the stock fans, mount two 120mm fans instead. It’s a huge improvement for noise and temps.
Pro-Tip for your card: Since you're already taking the shroud off, give your card some extra love! Replacing the old thermal paste and swapping those factory thermal pads for thermal putty,makes a world of difference. It's the best way to ensure your card runs cool for years to come.
Specs & Requirements
- Fans: 2x 120mm (I used Arctic P12 MAX - pressure-optimized fans are your friend here)
- Inserts: 5x M2x3mm Heat-Set Inserts
- Screws (Heatsink): Reuse the 5 original GPU shroud screws
- Screws (Fans): Standard fan screws for mounting the 120s to the shroud
- Material: Printed this V2 in PETG. It holds up fine in my setup, but keep an eye on your hotspot temps. ASA/ABS is recommended if you want to be 100% safe.
- Fan Mounting: Fans are screwed on from the bottom of the shroud into the fans.
Notes
- Fan Holes: Fan mounting holes are a bit loose (my bad on V2). Just don't overtighten the screws.
- Mounting order: Fans into shroud first, then the whole assembly onto the heatsink.
