Bring the mystique of ancient Egypt into your living room! This set is a homage to the Cups and Balls trick, arguably the oldest and best-documented magic trick in history.
📜 The Story Behind the Trick
The Cups and Balls trick is the "mother of all magic tricks". Its origins are often dated back to around 2,500 BC.
Beni Hasan: In the tombs of Beni Hasan, wall paintings depict two men manipulating four inverted bowls – many historians interpret this as the birth of the Cups and Balls trick.
The Magician Dedi: Legends say that magicians at the court of Pharaoh Cheops (Khufu) already performed astonishing wonders. While Dedi was known for his animal tricks, the Cups and Balls trick became the standard repertoire of "jugglers" and street performers in ancient marketplaces over millennia.
Symbolism: In ancient Egypt, magic (Heka) was considered a sacred force. A simple cup and ball were enough to seemingly defy the laws of reality – a wonder that continues to fascinate to this day.
🏺 Model Features
AMS Ready: Perfectly prepared for multi-color printing. The golden hieroglyphs (own creation) and edges are cleanly separated to create a noble contrast to the wooden body.
Optimized Shape: The cups are stackable, which is essential for the classic performance of the trick (ball penetrates the bottom of the cup).
Hieroglyph Balls: The balls feature an organic pattern reminiscent of ancient symbols, looking fantastic when printed (even in two colors). The balls are split in the middle to be printed more easily and without support structures. For assembly, simply insert the triangles into the designated holes and glue the two halves (2 different) together with a little superglue. The holes are off-center so they cannot be glued incorrectly.
Magic Tip:
Print a total of three cups and four balls (as in the print profile) to be able to perform the classic Cups and Balls routine! The pattern on the ball makes it particularly good for practicing grips and "palming" (concealing in the hand).
