Description

A rock-solid, fully modular wall-mounted filament spool holder designed for high load capacity and minimal hardware.

This system uses a standard, cheap 20mm cylindrical rod (wooden dowel, aluminum, or PVC tube) as the main structural axis. The geometry is specifically calculated so that the loaded spools rest slightly against the wall behind them. This creates a natural, gentle friction that prevents the spools from unrolling uncontrollably when pulling the filament, while transferring most of the weight directly to the wall rather than the printed parts.

Two Versions Included: Based on your aesthetic preference, you can choose between two functionally identical designs:

  • V1 (Classic): The original, heavily tested design with softer curves (shown in the real-life photos).
  • V2 (Modern): A redesigned, sleeker version with faceted angles and a more tech-oriented look (shown in the CAD renders). Both share the exact same structural strength and hardware requirements.

The Modular System (Left, Right & Center):

  • End Brackets (Left & Right): Feature a blind hole to securely cap and lock the 20mm rod in place, preventing lateral sliding.
  • Center Bracket (Pass-through): The key to infinite expansion. Use one of these every 40-50 cm (15-20 inches) to completely eliminate rod sagging. You can make the rack as long as your wall allows!

Hardware Required:

  • 1x 20mm cylindrical rod.
  • Countersunk screws and proper wall anchors (do not mount this on drywall without proper toggles, fully loaded it gets heavy!).

Pre-Supported for Perfect Tolerances: To guarantee the absolute best fit for the 20mm rod and ensure maximum structural integrity without layer sagging, the print profile includes pre-configured supports exactly where needed. You don't have to guess or mess with complex slicer settings to get perfectly round holes: just hit print and remove the supports after cooling.

Recommended Print Settings:

  • Material: PLA is perfectly fine and has been heavily tested for years. PETG, ASA or ABS are also great options.
  • Walls/Perimeters: 4 perimeters minimum (this is the real secret to their strength, do not skip this!).
  • Infill: 30% Zig Zag (Rectilinear).
  • Orientation: Upright (as they mount to the wall), using the pre-configured supports included in the .3mf file.

Note: Since the spools rest against the wall for friction, they might leave light scuff marks on your paint over time. If you care about your paint, simply stick a strip of tape or a thin plastic sheet on the wall behind the spools.
