Arca Swiss Tripod Adapter for Homeracker
Hey there,
Here's a remix for Homeracker pull-through connecter to allow building on a standard camera tripod. It's simply 2 pull-through cross connectors merged with an arca-swiss plate.
Why?
One of my favorite ways to DJ and make music is outdoors. When I'm casually DJing somewhere, it gets too uncomfortable, too quick, especially for longer sets, and often it's not possible to find a nice, tall table to arrange my setup at a park or a beach. I have a really portable DJ setup which I put together for this specific purpose, and carrying along a table is not convenient.
I have been thinking about a way to have a very portable solution which I can put in a backpack with the rest of my setup, and will save me from back pain and inconvenience, so I thought, why not put the whole thing on a tripod?
This is why I started playing around with a arca-swiss adapted "table-top" that I can pick up and lock on the tripod, to host my mini DJ controller. However, I wanted to have at least 30 cm wide, so it had to be foldable, which comes with more complexity. Instead, I focused on modularity, so I can pick up a few pieces and put together to create the table top. Then again, that didn't feel right. So that's why I decided to build it on Homeracker, which is a fantastic modular racking system which I use and trust.
HomeRacker
Probably needs no introduction but HomeRacker is a brilliant, robust, modular racking system created by KellerLab | Home - MakerWorld, and open sourced. Every piece is very intuitive and easy to print and assemble, and I trust the integrity, since I have been building shelves with it. The best part is that you can use the generators to create the exact dimensions you need, which is also the reason why I went with this remix.
My Setup
The BoM of the setup you can see in the photos:
- Arca-swiss pull-through connecter mod
- 11x 17 Single supports
- 4x standard or feed corner
- 6x pull-through T connector
- 4x 17*6 shelf
- 2x 17*3 shelf
With these items I can have 56*29 cm table top on my K&F tripod. Which is enough space to host a DDJ FLX4 or Hercules Control Mix Ultra controller (or any other entry level controller), or a groovebox and a 37 key midi keyboard. You can adjust the dimensions to your needs but I wouldn't exceed these dimensions.
Parts I used can be generated in respective generators.

Disclaimer
- Do not attempt this unless you fully trust your tripod and ball head or you have heavy and expensive equipment. Entire point of this build is to have a light, modular, casual outdoor setup, not to bang on.
- I have a K&F tripod which is already sturdy enough and rated for quite a bit of weight. HomeRacker is very strong and sturdy, as well as the arca-swiss mod I made. Weakest point would always be your tripod and ball head.
- It's beneficial to build alongside the long axis of arca-swiss plate. That way it reduces potential wobbles.
- Do not build wider and taller than you need. The wider it is, the wobbly and unstable it gets, and it will add more leverage to bend your ball head.
- You might not need to use shelves at all, but I think it adds to the stability.
- Do not forget to add weight to your tripod, like I did with a speaker in the photos.
- All credit goes to KellerLab | Home - MakerWorld for this incredible and thought-through system for designing and open-sourcing it.
