asrock Radeon 7800XT shroud adapter 120mm
Print Profile(0)
Description
This a fan shroud to replace the standard 95x10mm fans with 120x25mm ones, I used Arctic Cooling P12 PRO ones because it have a very good cost/performance ratio.
The main idea it's to use their high static presure to blow aire using a fan shroud on the heatsink and reduce the noise.
Most of people prefer to do undervolt even loosing 5-10% performance, I prefer to push the limits and take my performance :)
This is for Asrock challenger 7800XT , but seems to be compatible with 7700XT and 7900GRE.
BOM
- 4x - M2x8(or 10mm) SHCS to attach the fan shroud to the standard fittings
- 4x - M3x10 FHCS to attach the extra clamps on the center (optional)
- 3x - M3x10 FHCS to attach the fascia to the fan shroud
- 8x - M3x6 FHCS to attach the branding to the fascia
- 15x - Voron style heat inserts (8 for fans, 4 for extra clamps, 3 for fascia)
- 2x120mm high static pressure fans, do not use case fans.
Printing instructions
Fan shroud
- Use heat resistant material for the fan shroud, mine's is PBT+GF, but ASA/ABS will be good :)
- 5 walls
- 0.15mm layer height
- 8 top/bottom solid layers
- Use the model with tabs to avoid warping.
Case
- Use at least PETG for the case
- 3 walls
- 0.15 layer height
- 5 top/bottom solid layers
Fascia branding
- Use your settings, is not structural, I used PETG with my proosa XY.
Considerations
This is not a typical fan adapter, my idea is to use the whole heatsink, with standard fans you cant. Because of that I designed this 15mm fan shroud.

Aditional tabs
They are not mandatory but I think 4xM2 screws are a bit insufficient.

With furmark same RPM fans (2500rpm)
GPU core , 64->59ºC
GPU hotspot - 108ºC->92ºC
GPU mem -> 100ºC -> 80ºC
Much less noise now
Fan at 100% (3000rpm)
gpu core, 64->57ºC
GPU hotspot - 108ºC -> 90ºc
GPU mem -> 100ºC ->75ºC
Fans at 1750rpm (almost no noise)
gpu core 64ºC->65ºC
gpu hotspot 108ºC->99ºC
gpu mem 100ºC->92ºC
Gamming the temperatures are lower
