Description

  • This is a [wall] mount for 1"-14 thread mount marine GPS antennas - for anyone that wants a durable outdoor antenna for a NTP/PTP time server
    • Technically nothing stopping this from also being a robot-mount.
  • The antenna is mounted on the post, which can be installed in 1 of 4 different orientations - different manufacturers may start the thread at different rotations, and you may need the cable to be oriented in a certain direction.
  • The post features a small ‘screen’ so that any water that makes it into the post will drain, but problematic insects are excluded from nesting (ie: wasps). You may need to close the hole where the cable enters the antenna, however the underside of the post will not allow insects to enter.

Printing

  • It is recommended to print in a UV resistant material (eg: ASA), though your mileage may vary depending on sunlight, installation location, and your latitude.
    • Note: in my case I printed it in ABS because that's what I have - if it becomes a problem in a few years I can replace it, but it likely will last long enough.
  • Print using the included profile to minimize support requirements. The post-hole may be printable without support, however ABS/ASA are subject to warping, and the mounting hole needs to maintain concentricity due to the slight interference fit taper.

Required Hardware

  • 1x #6 ½" pan head screw, stainless steel recommended.
  • 2x #6 flat head screws, stainless steel recommended. Select the length based on the surface you are mounting the antenna onto.

Assembly

  • Thread the post into the antenna - be careful not to cross-thread, or over torque.
  • Align the post with the wall mount, secure it with a #6-½" screw. Markings reflect where the screw holes are for convenience.
  • Secure the mount to the wall with #6 flathead screws of your choice.
  • You can reverse the sequence and install the wall mount first if you prefer, however having the antenna mounted allows you to adjust positioning and ensure there is enough space for the antenna if mounting in tight spaces.
