Description

The original speaker in the M5 Atom Echo is very quiet. This simple upgrade replaces the built-in speaker with a larger and louder one and provides a 3D-printed enclosure to hold everything neatly.

Recommended speakers:

Both of these small speakers work well for this modification.

Installation steps

  1. Carefully open the M5 Atom Echo case using a small screwdriver:

  2. Desolder the original speaker:

  3. Solder the wires from the new speaker to the same pads:

  4. Slightly bend the small plastic reset button piece from the atom echo with pliers so the cable from the new speaker has enough space:

  5. Close the original housing again.
  6. Finally, install the unit into the printed 3D enclosure:

That’s it! With the upgraded speaker, the M5 Atom Echo becomes much louder and easier to hear.
