---

The latest version of my twist-style “slimy” ball fidget toy. This time in a ultra spiky version. This version is my personal favorit.

This one was by far the hardest to create. Base for this model was my Acupressure Spiky Sensory Ball. Originally that model was desiged to become a Fidget since i really like how it looks and feels, but i did not get it to work. My PC was just plain to slow to compute all those triangles in Fusion. After some more learning on how to use fusion i got it to work. It was super slow, painful and took ages but i finally made it. Each row of spikes consists exactly of the same amount of spikes. The closer you get to the sides of the ball, the closer the spikes are together creating a really special look. It took me some time to get it exactly this way and i am really happy with the result.

While i really like the Acupressure Spiky Sensory Ball since it feels great and is a perfect ball, i love this fidget.

The finally printed model looks and feels great.

This is a true print-in-place model

Adhesion

I had some adhesion issues with PLA. The print came loose twice and ended in spaghetti. I then cleaned my plate and used PETG since it sticks much better.

Therefore a friendly reminder to clean your plate :)

Support

Bambu Studio thinks that this model needs support - it does not. I therefore added a support blocker to prevent studio from showing the false “floating region” message.

Scaling

In my provided profile the ball is set to 65% of the original size (i originally modeled it as a 100mm sphere in Fusion 360) . This is how i printed it and this is how it works perfectly.

Making it bigger should be no problem. I also tried making it much smaller. That did not work. If it´s too small, the segments don't have enough material to hold onto each other and the whole ball falls apart. So regarding downsizing there is a threshold until it stops working. Please be aware if you try to make the model smaller. In my opinion the size in the profile is the perfect size anyways so i would strongly suggest leaving the size as it is.

For best results, print it in PETG.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! If you like my model i would be very happy about a like, a 5 Star rating and / or a boost. Thank you very much!
