Description

These pegs are designed for the OpenGrid system and use the super secure screw-in self-expanding snap connectors.  The goal was to create something like a long pegboard peg that uses only a single OpenGrid slot, stays relatively thin, and is still strong enough for heavier items. The result is a relatively slim, rounded peg that takes advantage of geometry and reinforcement modifiers to pack a surprising amount of strength into a small footprint.

minor updates:
- 4/5/26  - Added double-thickness pegs, and versions for OpenGrid LIte!
- 4/15/26 - Added XS, XXS, and XXXS sizes to the original peg versions

Highlights:

  • Strength-focused: Because the peg threads into the screw snap rather than hangs from a cleat, the cantilever begins closer to the back plane of the grid, resulting in a shorter lever arm and lower bending torque at the mounting point.  It also uses a contoured top rib and vertical internal modifier for impressive strength from a slim profile, even in basic filaments. PLA+ is recommended, or heavier duty materials as needed.

Internal ribs tie into the top reinforcing rib near the base, providing structural support down the length of the hook while minimizing the need for thick perimeter walls
  • Optimized for print orientation and installation: The flat bottom allows the peg to print flat in the strongest possible orientation, which combined with the small flat area at the base of the top fin allows use of tools for cases where screwing it all the way in requires a little more oomph.
  • Resizable: Four sizes are included, and each is sectioned for easy custom resizing.  To keep the internal structure intact you'll want to resize the section along with its matching modifier together (e.g. move both the end and the end modifier).

Prototypes have held up with heavy objects for over a month so far
Extra long pegs can do the job of pegboard hooks for lighter items
