This self-built shoe dryer uses a compact air heater (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BR84GZRM) to direct warm air through four tubes directly into shoes. This allows up to two pairs of shoes – even heavily soaked ones – to be reliably dried in about 2 hours.

I have also dried a bucket of damp baseballs.

The four air tubes consist of 25 mm empty tubes that are simply plugged in, allowing each tube to rotate freely. I currently use 4 × 40 cm, but the length can be flexibly adjusted.

Power is supplied by an old 12 V / 4 A power supply unit. All components are firmly connected with only two screws.

The temperature does not get extremely high, so from my point of view, there is no high risk – nevertheless, I recommend not leaving the dryer running unattended, as with all DIY heating projects.
