If you enjoy my designs, a like or Boost really helps. I’d love to hear how your print turned out. Cheers! :D

Overview

A modular building system inspired by classic metal construction sets. This kit moves beyond static models, providing the ability to generate structural plates and wheels designed to be assembled with printed hardware.

What is it? This is a mechanical prototyping toolkit. Instead of printing a single finished object, you print the individual components—plates, spacers, and wheels—and join them using the included M5 screws and nuts that can be as well adjusted,

What can be done?

  • Mechanical Assemblies: Build rigid frames, chassis, and structural supports. Not to mention any existing Metal Construction sets can be replicated and assembled.
  • Vehicle Prototyping: Assemble custom wheelbases using the included Off-Road and Sport tire profiles or any type of wheel with an axle diameter of 5.1mm
  • Iterative Design: Because the system is entirely bolt-together, you can disassemble your projects and reuse the parts for new builds, just like the traditional metal kits.

Technical Essentials

Plates

The plates are 1.5mm thick and all hole diameters are 5mm. The distances between the holes are 10mm as well as the width of the plates.

Plates with Slots

Plates with slots follow the same rule as the ones with holes. Thickness of 1.5mm and height of 10. The changes are that the holes where the slots have been activated are 8mm wide (3mm between the slot generators).

Screws and nuts

The screws and nuts are the standard M5 ones. Middle Screwdriver flathead slot is 1mm. The head of the screw as well as the nut have the same thickness - 2.5mm. Best printed at 0.16 layer height or lower!

Wheels

The wheels I have Included have and outter diameter of 20mm, axle diameter of 5.1 and a width of 9.5. Any diameter and width will work as long as the axle is 5.1mm for smooth rolling.

Tools

Included in each set of mine as well as print profiles is a set of basic screwdriver and wrench.

I invite all of you to contribute with new models of your own or replicas of existing ones. Let's make anything accessible to anyone! ^^

If there are any questions or suggestions about anything, feel free to leave a comment and I'll answer as soon as possible.

Cheers! ^^

Update 11.03.2026

  • Added a width multiplier: you can now chose how wide you'd want your plate to be for bigger flat sections.

Previous version and the latest one
  • You can now change the wing angles from -120° → 120° instead of -90° → 90°
  • Optimized how the script is formatted for faster render time

Update 14.03.2026

  • Added a new option under the Global Plate Settings called “Flat Angles”. What it does? it changes the plate angles from vertical to flat side-to-side bends. This unlocks more creative ways to design kits while reducing part numbers and making assembly easier.

The flat angles version can't have normal slots but it can have the continuous ones

Update 15.03.2026

  • Added an optional M3 version of the kit for smaller hardware. When toggled, all holes go from 5mm to 3mm.

M5 and the optional M3 version of the kit

Update 18.03.2026

  • Added a plate thickness modifier at the request of a user. Now you can adjust the thickness of the plates if the default 1.5mm does not fit your design requirements

Here is a comparison between the normal 1.5mm and a 3mm thickness

Any suggestions are welcome. I'm always looking into improving the generator.
