Description

Welcome back witches and wizards!

Since I love making magic wands so much, I created another one! I have this model laying around for several years now. It was a single version before and I liked it, becaus it ws thin, but then I decided to make it fully customisable / modular, so you can fully create you own design with different handles, shafts, end knobs and top knobs! So make your personal wand like you imagine it after seeing harry potter ^^

And of course it's collapsible with that favourite sound! It is also a great fidget toy!

These models take a lot of time so I appreciate boosts very much to buy new filament or printer parts :)

How to print?

I highly recommend using my print profiles. I thought it would be best to but all handles, shafts, end & top knobs in one print profile, so you can print them all and choose while builing, it would be a lot of work to make a print profile for all single parts. The parts don't need that much filament and time.

Important settings:

Handles:

  • But the with the bigger thread on the built plate
  • activate arachne wall mode
  • 0.2mm layer height or smaller
  • active automatic tree supports

Shafts:

  • the shafts are the hardest to print and may cause failure if not being careful!
  • Activate arachne wall mode, otherwise parts might float in mid air!
  • outer brim is highly recommended!
  • 0.2mm layer height works fine
  • normal speed works, I wouldnt use sport or ludacrous mode!
  • for me it always works fine to print the 3 parts at once
  • MAKE SURE YOUR PRINT BED IS CLEAN and you have the best possible bed adhesion! I highly recommend super tack built plate (I personally prefer frostbite) or glue.
  • Yes the shafts are thin and break easy! This is a magic wand to be very careful with. I have designed many collapsing wands in my life, it doesn't make much difference, even if the shaft pieces consist of 2 walls they break easily. There is just a high lever on the layer lines when swinging or bending it, so it snap easily. I wanted the whole wand to be as thin as possible.

Knobs

  • They are in general easy to print
  • activate arachne wall mode!
  • I suggest 0.12mm layer height or below for high details
  • the ones with overhangs need tree support, the others don't need any support

Assembly:

Assembly is easy:

  1. Screw a top knob on the thinner side of the handle
  2. Put the 3 shaft pieces into the handle (from the bigger side of the handle)
  3. Screw on the end knob!

I wish you happy printing and a lot of fun with my wands. Please note that they are under standard digital file license which doesn't allow remixing, reuploading or commercial usage of my model.
BUT:
If you come up with any personal designs for knobs or handles, you may upload them here as a print profile. I will review them and contact you if I see any problems.
