Description
Build a completely unique robot head with this highly customizable, multi-part parametric model. Designed to serve as a sci-fi desk toy or a decorative shelf, this modular assembly gives you total control over the final look. By adjusting the individual facial expression, ear style, and neck style, you can create endless combinations of custom robot heads with any facial expression.
Every piece of this robot is designed for easy multicolor 3D printing and assembly. The snap-fit joints ensure a clean, hardware-free build. Whether you want a happy bot, sad bot, or angry bot, this design provides all of the parts needed to bring your custom robot head to life.
When generating your robot head, the preview will display the assembled view. Exporting the model will split all of the pieces to 3 plates based on color in the 3mf, an AMS is not required.
Customization Features
- Face Expressions: You can customize the text characters used for the left eye, right eye, and mouth. The character size, overall face spacing, and individual character spacing can be adjusted to create endless expressions.
- Ear Styles: Choose from 13 different ear styles, including Double, Triple, and Quad Wings, as well as Gears, Diamonds, Lightning Bolts, Stars, and more. The ears can also be scaled to small, medium, or large sizes.
- Neck Styles: The base of the robot head can be swapped between 4 different styles.
- Colors: Choose your colors for the model from a simple dropdown mapped to Bambu PLA filament colors. This will automatically set the colors in the exported 3mf file.
Recommended Print Settings
The only settings I recommend to change is setting the infill to 5% and gyroid. All of the models in the pictures were printed with the default settings with these infill changes.
Assembly and Lighting
The model is designed with tested tolerances for a clean fit. The ear bases use two pegs to lock the accent halos in place and the antenna features a snap-fit ball and stalk.
The internal cavity of the head is designed to act as a light diffuser. The bottom of the neck base is hollowed out to hold a standard LED light, allowing the face plate to glow from within. A finger-pull hole is cut through the very bottom so you can easily push the light back out when you need to change it.
