Description
Brigid’s Cross
This is a detailed 3D printable Brigid’s Cross inspired by the traditional Irish woven straw crosses. The model prints in one piece and is designed to replicate the natural look of bundled reeds tied together, including subtle texture and raised bands for a realistic woven appearance.
The cross measures approximately 6¾ inches (171 mm) across once printed. Printed in PLA but should work fine with any filament.
Two versions will be included:
• Standard version – decorative cross for display
• Wall-hanging version – Will soon include a file with a small loop so it can be hung on a nail or thumbtack
The bands and ties can be printed in different colors if you have a Bambu AMS, allowing you to highlight the binding sections for extra visual detail. This is optional, but keep in mind multi-color printing will significantly increase print time.
The cross is intentionally not perfectly flat to give it a more natural, handmade look, similar to real woven straw crosses.
Printing Notes
- Supports recommended
- With supports, you will end up with one clean side and one rough side where supports were attached
- I have not tested printing it without supports, so results may vary
