Description

OEM+ Shortened Shifter Mod

for Suzuki Swift Sport AZ (ZC33S)

Precision. Simplicity. OEM spirit, refined.

 

This OEM+ modification shortens the factory shifter by approximately 35 mm, transforming the long stock throw into a tighter, more mechanical shift experience. The intention behind this project was not to replace the original system, but to enhance it while preserving the factory engineering and interior aesthetics.

This download includes:

  • A redesigned 3D-printable reverse lockout
  • A complete installation guide (read PDF-Documentation before any modification!)

Important:
This project does not include a full replacement shifter. The printed part is only the reverse lockout component, which becomes necessary after shortening the original OEM shaft. Once reduced in length, the factory reverse lockout is proportionally too long. This redesigned version restores proper function and clean OEM+ proportions.

3D Printed Components for the Mod

Reverse Lockout

Designed specifically for the shortened OEM shaft.
Engineered to withstand high interior temperatures and daily use.

Recommended materials:

  • ABS
  • ASA

Surface finishing is optional but recommended for improved durability and a factory-level appearance.

To achieve a clean print, it is recommended to use PETG as an interface layer between the support structure and the part. When printing the part in ABS or ASA, BambuStudio will issue a warning, which can be bypassed by enabling “Remove the restriction on mixed printing of high- and low-temperature filaments.” For technical reasons, Makerworld does not allow uploads of mixed-material prints using ABS and PETG. Therefore, the second filament (gray) also had to be chosen as ABS, matching the main body. If multicolor printing via AMS is possible, the filament slot for ABS (gray) can be replaced with any PETG to achieve an ideal result and make the support structures easier to remove.


Optional Upgrade (Separate Project)

If you want to further enhance shift precision, you can replace the original rubber shift box bushings with stiffer TPU versions.

The shift box bushings are NOT included in this project download.
They are available separately in my other MakerWorld project.

These bushings reduce compliance inside the shift assembly and provide a more defined mechanical feel.


Machining Requirements

The original shifter must be shortened properly and rethreaded to M12x1.25.

Do not cut it with an angle grinder.
Proper machining ensures correct alignment, clean thread geometry, and long-term reliability.

Use only plastic-compatible grease on:

  • The shifter ball
  • The reverse lockout shaft
