Organic & Geometric Textured Pots for Plants

 

SFERA is part of what Ikigaiform stands for: finding balance between emotion and precision.

I’ve always been drawn to spherical forms. They feel complete, calm, almost meditative. With SFERA, I wanted to keep that quiet, organic volume intact and introduce controlled geometric tension across the surface. Not decoration. Not random texture. But structure that grows from the form itself.

 

Built in Rhino + Grasshopper, refined in Fusion 360, and rendered in KeyShot Studio, SFERA is the result of algorithmic exploration shaped into something functional. Every ridge follows logic. Every intersection exists for a reason.

 

The goal was simple: create a planter that feels sculptural even before you place a plant inside.

The Geometry

ONDULA

A single directional spiral flowing across the sphere.
It creates movement without breaking the calmness of the base shape.

The model comes in both right and left orientations.
Placed together, they create a subtle mirrored dialogue.

PINECONE

This version merges both spiral directions into one structure.
The surface becomes denser, more architectural, more complex.

It feels structured, almost engineered, yet still organic.

Dimensions

Small - 133 mm height × 86.4 mm diameter

Large - 222 mm height × 144 mm diameter

The smaller one feels intimate. The larger one becomes presence.

Printing Notes

All versions were printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle for sharp definition.

Larger nozzles are not just about speed here. They enhance the tactile quality of the surface and increase structural strength.
0.6 mm gives stronger ridge character.
0.8 mm makes the texture bold and sculptural.

Arachne wall generator is recommended for the insert.

 

Note for your plants:

For best results, you can add a cotton or synthetic wick through the insert into the reservoir. The wick helps draw water up gradually, improving consistent moisture delivery and absorption at the root level. This keeps the growing medium evenly hydrated, reduces watering frequency, and supports healthier root development without the risk of overwatering.

The new SFERA Collection #2 continues the idea but with a more rounded silhouette and a pattern that now runs fully around the object. The rib structure was extended to 360°, making the texture more continuous and giving the planter a stronger sculptural presence from every angle.
