Description

# Toyota 4Runner / GX / FJ Splash Shield Anti-Rattle Shim

Have you been trying to figure out where that squeak in the front of your 4Runner is coming from?

You know the one.

You’ve checked suspension bolts.
You’ve bounced the bumper.
You’ve crawled under the truck with a flashlight.
You’ve questioned your sanity.

Maybe you’ve even thought, “If I can’t find this noise, I’m selling this thing.”

Relax.

I found it.

On many 4Runner / GX / FJ platforms, the front splash shield (wheel well liner extension) can develop just enough play at the push-clip mounting points to create an infuriating plastic-on-metal squeak. It doesn’t look loose. It doesn’t look broken. But under small chassis flex or road vibration… it talks.

This shim solves that.

---

## What This Does

This part adds controlled preload at the factory splash shield clip location, eliminating micro-movement between the panel and frame.

• Removes plastic-on-metal squeak
• Eliminates wheel well rattle
• Maintains OEM serviceability
• Completely hidden once installed
• Installs in seconds

It’s a simple tolerance correction that should have existed from the factory.

---

## Compatibility

Designed around 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner (2010–2024), and commonly applicable to:

• Lexus GX460
• Lexus GX470
• Toyota FJ Cruiser
• Similar Toyota body-on-frame platforms using factory push clips

---

## Installation

There are **5 possible clip locations per side** where this shim can be installed.

On my vehicle, the primary noise came from:
• The top two clip locations
• The lower clip closest to the strut

The remaining two locations were tight and did not require shimming, but tolerances may vary between vehicles.

No need to remove the factory retention clip.

1. Slide the shim directly over the clip stem
2. Push inward until seated between the splash shield and mounting surface
3. Repeat as needed (up to 5 per side)

That’s it.

No adhesive.
No permanent modification.
Fully reversible.

## Why This Exists

This model was created after chasing an annoying front-end squeak that turned out to be nothing more than a slight tolerance gap at the splash shield clip.

Problem → Diagnose → Design → Print → Install → Silence.

If you’ve been hunting that mystery noise, this may be the fix you’ve been looking for.

Sometimes the smallest parts make the biggest difference.
