Description

Half-height stackable battery beer crate for CR2032, CR2025 or CR2016

First off, all credits to the original designers of the battery crates. Unfortunately, all their designs are only on Thingiverse.

Marzochi/rodrigorosseto
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5389119
Responsible for the original design of a battery beer crate for AA, AAA, 9V and 18650 batteries. His stacking option consists of printing a separate plate that has to be glued on the bottom.

TontoTraveler
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4919480
TontoTraveler came up with the stacking feature for the beer crates, a method that did not require any additional supports or the gluing step of Marzochi's stackable rim
His design added a simple inner ridge on top of the crate, and groove on the underside. This way, the design gets a built-in stable stacking option, while keeping the print profile stable and easy.

Added labeling to the crates and made a first attempt on coin cell crates. The overall design was good, but he chose to make a coin cell crate ⅔ height of the AA crates, leaving a big empty space underneath the coin cells, which I personally didn't like. Especially since half of the height of the AA crate can almost exactly fit a CR2032 coin cell.

Remix: Adding stacking to the half-height crate

I really wanted a half-height beer crate for all my coin cells, that would also have the built-in stacking feature from TontoTraveler. I've remixed Fusion_Layer's Half crate CR2032 design to include the stacking rim, and tweaked the frame inside the crate a bit to include crate versions for other coin cells as well (like the CR2025 and CR2016).

The design now has the built-in stable stacking option, while keeping the print profile stable and easy, without the need for any removable supports.

The CR2032 can hold a maximum of 24 coin cells, the CR2025 has room for 28 of coin cells, the CR2016 can pack a maximum of 38 coin cells. Finally, in order to fit, the inner frame had to be turned 90degrees sideways, but the CR2450 can now fit 14 coin cells.

I've also added an stl file for empty half height crate if other people come up with something creative.

And as a bonus tip: While it is tempting to put all coin cells in 1 crate, they are a bit tricky to pull back out when closely packed.

I would recommend to leave one section empty between coin cells.
