Bachmann HO Replacement Idler Gear w/ Side Railing
Print Profile(1)

Description
These downloads allow you to replace a broken idler gear and/or missing side railings for your HO scale GP-40.
This gear is commonly used in many of the Bachmann series “pancake” style motors and frequently goes bad in these vintage engines due to splitting.
For my use I printed this gear out of PLA, and it has worked fine under load for a long time, so I never had the need to try PETG.

If you are using the side rail, it is simply glued in place using CA. I created a support block which you can print to aid you in lining up the railing when you glue it.

The method I used was to just set the railing in place, then applied CA along various points letting it dry. Once completely dry I then glued the remaining contact points. Then repeated the process for the other side. None of the parts require supports. If you don't use the projects slicer settings please pay attention to the ones I have set up for the gear as they produce the best tooth definition when printing with a .4 nozzle.
