STAYREAL IKEA PLATSA Bottom Cat Bed Modification Kit

Notes

1. This modification kit needs to be used with the IKEA PLATSA open shelving unit. Its size is only compatible with the bottom space; other shelves are not suitable.
2. Due to the large size of some models, A1 mini printing is not supported. Please do not attempt to scale and print.
3. All models in the modification kit are assembled using cable ties (or adhesive) (for easy installation and fixing, reduced printing supports, and avoidance of tolerance loss).

Model Description

• Design Inspiration: I have three cats at home and have bought many cat beds over time. Small-sized ones were uncomfortable for the cats, and large-sized ones took up too much space. Most cat beds, due to material issues, became difficult to clean after long use because of fur sticking to them, and stains were impossible to remove. Therefore, I've never found a durable and suitable cat bed.
• Design Concept: Coincidentally, I have several IKEA shelves at home, and my cats also enjoy resting on them. Thus, I designed this model to convert an open shelf into a semi-enclosed cat bed. Thanks to the adjustable height shelves and the large size of the shelves themselves, there is ample space inside the cat bed: cats can enter and exit without bending down, only half the space is used when curled up for rest, and there is still plenty of room to stretch or move around.
• Model Design: The color scheme references STAYREAL's recently released RealTrip series. The high-saturation color-blocking design makes the cat bed look less rigid. The front and rear baffles use black filament, which prevents cats from dirtying them during daily use and increases the cat bed's light-blocking properties, making cats feel more secure inside the cat bed.
• Model Details: Each baffle has three rows of hollow ventilation holes to prevent stagnant air inside the cat bed. The front features a large opening design for easy cat entry and exit. Additionally, two portholes have been added to the front for easy observation of the cat bed's interior, and also for playing with or feeding cats through them.
• Model Assembly: All baffles are assembled using cable ties. The large openings are compatible with most cable ties on the market (I used 4.6mm wide cable ties). No slots or buckles were designed to reduce filament consumption and avoid filament waste caused by assembly errors or model obsolescence due to aging. Decorative models are assembled with adhesive for easy fixing in any position according to personal preference.
