An engineered, flush-mount underground hide designed to integrate seamlessly into bioactive terrariums. Featuring a removable lid for zero-disturbance access and an open-bottom architecture to maximize substrate exposure, this hide excels at maintaining isolated microclimates (ideal for humid hides using a damp 70% topsoil / 30% play sand mix).

🛡️ Engineered for Pet Safety
Reptile health is our top design priority. Standard amateur 3D models are often built with sharp digital corners and un-chamfered 90-degree angles that can cause micro-abrasions to delicate reptile scales and amphibian underbellies.
- Continuous Curvature: The astroviv hide is engineered with perfectly smooth, continuous-curvature internal radiuses to eliminate sharp edges entirely.
- Structural Integrity: The strict 1.2mm wall thickness ensures the hide will not crack, splinter, or collapse under the weight of substrate or hardscape elements.
Core Features
- Modular Entrances: Includes interchangeable "Left" and "Right" mirrored lids, allowing you to optimize the entrance placement for your specific hardscape layout.
- Dual Base Architecture: Choose between the Standard Base (fully enclosed walls with calculated ventilation/peep holes) or the Tunneling Base (features integrated wall openings, allowing burrowing species to excavate their own tunnel networks directly from the hide).
⚠️ Material & Safety Disclosures (Please Read)
- Thermal Limits (PLA vs. PETG): Do not place PLA prints directly under ceramic heat emitters (CHEs) or high-wattage basking bulbs. PLA has a low glass-transition temperature and will warp or melt. If your hide will be exposed to direct, high heat, print the provided profiles using PETG or ABS/ASA.
- Bacterial Sealing: FDM prints are naturally porous. To prevent bacterial buildup in the layer lines, seal the interior of the hide with a reptile-safe sealant before introducing it to a high-humidity environment. Polyurethane spray sealants provide an excellent clear-coat.
- Curing Time / Off-gassing: If using a spray sealant, allow the print to cure in a well-ventilated space for at least 48–72 hours. Do not place the hide in an enclosure until all chemical fumes have completely dissipated.
Fabrication Specifications
- Supports: Slicer supports are required strictly for the underside of the lid overhang. Slim tree supports provide excellent results and easy removal.
- Fuzzy Skin: The included .3mf files contain profiles for both standard and "Fuzzy Skin" exterior walls. Fuzzy skin provides a premium, natural rock texture and aids reptiles during the shedding process.
