Description
Safety Slip Clutch – Educational Model for Forklift Training
This 3D model represents an angle-dependent safety slip clutch, such as those used when pulling heavy loads (e.g., railway wagons on factory premises) with a forklift.
Function of the Original
The clutch remains locked during normal operation, as long as the pull is straight.
However, if the trailer moves faster than the forklift or pulls at an angle (e.g., on a slope), the rope angle changes.
If this exceeds a defined limit, the clutch automatically disengages and disconnects the tow.
This prevents the forklift from being pulled along or destabilized by a heavier load.
Purpose of the Model
This model is intended solely for training and demonstration purposes, e.g., in forklift courses.
It allows for a clear explanation of:
- why such safety systems are necessary
- how mechanical release mechanisms work
- what dangers can arise when pulling heavy loads
The model is not intended for real towing applications.
Print Settings:
Print orientation and settings are optimally matched in the uploaded print profile and can also be printed without AMS. The orientation should be as in the print profile and not be changed, ensuring a smooth printing process.
Assembly:
Assembly is very simple.
- The entire model is purely for plug-together assembly and is fixed only by 2 glued-in magnets.
- Grease nipples and a symbolic screw are glued to the grease nipple tab.
- The pivot pin and the grease nipple tab must be glued with super glue.
- The attached images are self-explanatory.

This clutch serves as a mechanical safety device when pulling heavy loads, e.g., a railway wagon, with a forklift.
During normal operation, the connection remains closed as long as the pull is straight and controlled.
However, if the trailer moves faster than the forklift (e.g., on a slope or when overrunning), the towing angle of the rope changes.
If this angle exceeds a defined range, the clutch automatically and mechanically disengages and disconnects the tow.
