Description

Overview

This is a 3D-printable statue of Hugh of Grenoble, commonly referred to as St. Hugo. The model is designed for home prayer spaces, shelves, desks, or quiet display areas. Geometry is kept clean and print-friendly to reduce failure points while preserving traditional episcopal details.

Many people keep a St. Hugo statue in their home as a symbol of steady leadership, reform, and spiritual discipline.

History of the Object

St. Hugh of Grenoble (1053–1132) was a French bishop known for reforming clergy practices and supporting the founding of the Carthusian Order. He is remembered for his integrity, humility, and commitment to strengthening the Church during a time of corruption and instability.

Because of his role as a reformer and shepherd, he is associated with moral leadership and perseverance in responsibility.

What People Traditionally Keep This Statue For

People commonly place a St. Hugo statue in their home for prayer or reflection related to:

  • Guidance for leaders and clergy
  • Strength in times of institutional or personal reform
  • Stability during challenging responsibilities
  • Encouragement to lead with integrity
  • Perseverance in long-term commitments

For many, the statue represents quiet authority grounded in discipline rather than power.

Supports & Removal Notes

  • Fine details may include hands, facial features, staff (crosier), and vestment folds
  • The staff is typically the most fragile element
  • Supports may be required depending on orientation and slicer settings
  • Remove supports slowly and carefully, especially around the staff and fingers
  • Avoid twisting thin parts free, cut supports gradually

Scaling & Strength

  • Upscaling (125%–200%) significantly improves durability of the staff and thin details
  • Larger prints produce thicker edges and stronger layer adhesion
  • Very small prints increase fragility, especially around hands and accessories
  • If the statue will be handled frequently, print larger

Important Notes

  • Decorative and devotional use only
  • Not designed for functional or load-bearing use
  • Not intended for outdoor exposure
  • Handle carefully after printing, particularly around thin accessories
