This bust depicts Panas (Iakovytch Roudtchenko) Myrny in a classical sculptural interpretation limited to the head and upper torso, resting on a discreet base. The volumes are deliberately emphasized: the thick moustache, thoughtful gaze, and facial structure are shaped with strong planes to convey the writer’s intellectual presence.
The sculpture is inspired by the most popular photograph of the author, faithfully preserving his proportions and natural expression to provide a representation suitable for 3D printing.
A major figure of 19th-century Ukrainian realist literature, Panas Myrny is best known for the novel “Do Oxen Low When Mangers Are Full?”, written with his brother Ivan Bilyk. His work explores rural life, social injustice, and the human condition in imperial-era Ukraine. Through deeply social and psychological writing, he helped give Ukrainian literature a modern and engaged voice.
