Description

RP2040 Interactive Robo Cat Desk Pet

This adorable little creature cant wait to meet you! Its big expressive eyes will look around curiously as it keeps you company. Great for rubber duck debugging.

BOM

The whole thing only needs 4 components in addition to the 3D print.

 

NOTE: It's important that the 2040 does not have the pins pre-soldered. They need to be put on the opposite side from the norm in order to fit in the case.

1x RP2040 Zero

1x SH1106 Display (Make sure to get the 1.3 inch white welded version)

7x Jumper Wires

1x TP223 Capacitive touch sensor

2x M2x6mm screws NOTE: the screws need to be at least 6mm long but can be up to 10mm, do not overtighten!

 

Assembly

Solder the pins on the top side of the 2040 as shown

Solder the pins on the bottom of the TP223. Additionally I like to snip off the indicator LED with flush cutters after ensuring everything is working. The left TP223 still has the LED and the right one has it taken off.

Wiring

SH1106 Display

3.3V rp2040 → VCC SH1106

 

GND rp2040 → GND SH1106

 

Pin0 rp2040 → SDA SH1106

 

Pin1 rp2040 → SCK SH1106

 

TP223

5V rp2040 → VCC TP223
 

PIN28 rp2040 → GND TP223
 

PIN29 rp2040 → I/0 TP223

 

Code

The code is written in circuit python so you'll need to flash that to the RP2040 first: https://circuitpython.org/board/waveshare_rp2040_zero/

 

Once that's done just download the code from the src directory in this repo and drag the files onto the RP2040
