Description

This hair clip is based on a classic bridge-and-pin mechanism, redesigned for 3D printing and contemporary use. The model consists of two separate parts:
– a curved, bridge-shaped main body with through-holes and an engraved floral motif
– a straight pin/stick that slides through the holes to lock the hair in place

The geometry is designed for real, everyday wear. The curved bridge follows the natural shape of the head, helping to distribute pressure evenly, while the pin provides a secure hold without excessive tension. This results in a functional and comfortable accessory suitable for different hair types and volumes.

Thanks to the 3D-printed construction, the clip is lightweight, avoiding the discomfort often caused by heavier metal hair clips, which can be visually appealing but cumbersome and fatiguing during prolonged use.

The floral engraving is an integral part of the design rather than a superficial decoration. It adds visual identity while keeping the overall form clean and structurally driven, positioning the object between functional accessory and small wearable piece.

From a printing perspective, the model is optimized for standard FDM printers. Any common filament can be used. In my case, PLA+ was used successfully, but alternative materials may be selected depending on specific requirements such as flexibility or strength.

A small brim was added under the semicircular portion of the bridge to improve bed adhesion. Depending on the filament and printer calibration, this brim can be removed if not needed.

The model prints correctly without supports. If higher precision in the holes is expected, supports can be evaluated. In that case, tree supports are recommended, placed manually and only on the rear side of the clip to minimize aesthetic impact.

In addition to the 3mf file the original Shapr3D model is attached, allowing full modification of geometry, dimensions, and decorative elements.
 

These file is included to encourage customization, adaptation, and further design exploration.
 

The engraving is generated directly in Bambu Studio using the “Add Modifier” function, while the original model remains flat. This approach allows the decorative motif to be changed easily: you can simply import a different SVG into Bambu Studio and apply it as a new modifier, obtaining a personalized version, without altering the base geometry of the model.
