Description

The Relics of the Rune Forge: The Lion of Miklagard 🦁

Welcome back to the forge! After the wolf (Fenrir), the boar (Hildisvƭni), the stag (Eikthyrnir), and the bear (Bƶdvar), a new, powerful creature leaves the fire today: The Lion.

In the old sagas of the Northmen, there are tales of giant golden beasts from the far south (Miklagard). This wall relief lion captures exactly that majestic power. The master blacksmith has banished the aura of the sun king into solid black material and sealed it with a heavy Nordic rune rim to control its might. An absolute end boss! Since the model is designed with a completely flat back, it sits perfectly flush against your wall – or you can place it directly on your desk thanks to the integrated base.

My Print Settings: To get the lion out of your printer just as sharp, here are my settings:

  • Orientation: Print standing up! I strongly recommend printing the relief vertically (standing). This provides much better layer quality and sharpness for the facial details than laying it flat.
  • Material: Black PLA (the perfect base for painting)
  • Layer Height: 0.16 mm (brings out the fine details of the mane and tattoos perfectly)
  • Supports: Tree Supports

Important Print Pro-Tip: Since the model is printed standing up, don't be surprised – at the very bottom of the beard, right above the base, the angle is so tight that the slicer often can't place any tree supports there. The printer has to print a few millimeters in the air at that point. For a short moment, it looks like it's producing spaghetti. Don't panic and don't cancel the print! It recovers immediately and finishes extremely clean. In the end, you'll only have to snip off one or two small threads, nothing more.

Painting (Dry Brushing): This model is an absolute dream for dry brushing. I dry-brushed my lion with metallic colors (bronze and gold). Due to the deep grooves and the tattoos on the face, it ends up looking like a centuries-old, heavy bronze shield.

šŸ”„ The Full Pack: Bring the full power of the Rune Forge to your wall! Same style, same rune rim, massive energy:

Boost Me (for free)
