Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko Bust
🇫🇷 Description (French)
This bust depicts Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, a 19th-century Ukrainian poet, writer, and artist, a foundational figure of modern Ukrainian cultural identity. The work is inspired by the most popular image associated with him, widely circulated in official portraits and historical reproductions.
The sculpture features a classic presentation: head and upper torso only, without additional decorative elements. The gaze is frontal and direct, expressing both determination and melancholy, traits often attributed to the poet. The facial proportions are accurately observed, retaining slight natural asymmetries to preserve the authenticity of the physiognomy.
The thick hairstyle and mustache form major structural elements of the bust. The volumes are strongly delineated, with deeply defined locks and folds to enhance the perception of forms. The facial features — brow ridges, cheekbones, and mouth line — are accentuated to convey the character's expressive power and evoke his committed temperament.
Taras Shevchenko is regarded as the father of modern Ukrainian literature. His collection Kobzar profoundly influenced Ukrainian culture and national consciousness. Born a serf, he became an artist and intellectual, dedicating his work to denouncing social oppression and preserving his people's language and identity. This bust pays tribute to his major role in the cultural and political history of Eastern Europe.
Conceived for 3D printing, the model prioritizes legible volumes, a clear structure, and a balanced silhouette, offering an expressive presence faithful to the historical importance of the figure.
