Pipe Rest No. 1

Description
The Vision
The goal with this print was to get rid ofthe "clutter" of traditional smoking stands. Most pipe stands are functional but lack a certain beauty; they’re either wire racks or heavy wood blocks. This rest is designed as a frozen gesture—a minimalist, monochrome study of a hand in a moment of rest. By using a seamless single color finish, the object loses its "human" skin texture and becomes a purely architectural form. It’s meant to look like a museum fragment when empty, and a cool piece of utility when in use.
Design & Utility The geometry is strictly focused on the "cradle." I’ve moved the fingers into a position that prioritizes stability, ensuring the bowl of the pipe has a dedicated landing spot while the stem is supported by the natural curve of the thumb and forefinger. There are no visible seams and no hardware. It’s just one continuous, flowing shape.
Fit & Compatibility A quick note on the ergonomics: the proportions for this model were built specifically around the classic silhouette of a standard-sized briar pipe. It’s been "fit-tested" to ensure a snug, secure balance for that specific scale. If you’re rocking a massive, oversized freehand or a long-stemmed churchwarden, the balance might feel a bit different, but for your everyday briar, it provides a perfect, low-profile grip.
