Half Twist Throttle Conversion to Thumb Throttle.
Print Profile(1)

Description
I didn't like the grips that were on my half twist throttle for my bbshd ebike so I created this model that converts the throttle to a thumb throttle. The advantage to my throttle is that it does not take up real estate near the grips, brakes or gear levers. Any grips can now be used and in my opinion twist throttles are not that safe. The operation is quite smooth.
Here are the instructions for building this contraption:
1: Purchase this throttle because I don't know if it will work with anything else:

2: Disassemble the your brand new throttle and basically destroy its current existence. Don't worry, the next steps are not that difficult. Remove the center bolt that is used for attaching the throttle to the handle bar. It's a long bolt and should come all the way out. Next, cut the rubber grips off the throttle. You might cut all of the soft rubber off now. This will expose three small screws on the end of it. Don't touch any screws near where the wiring is and you should be safe. The parts should come apart and expose the spring. Keep the spring for later.
3: Slide out the part that was the twisting part of the throttle. It should have a magnet on it. This part needs to be cut to size so that the new throttle arm part can be slid onto it. Cut the plastic end off this plastic part the throttle arm can be slid onto this plastic part all the way towards the magnet side. The part will still be too long at this point and the part will have to be cut flush with the 3d printed part.
4. Use a M3 nut and screw and put it into the locking ring. Slide the modified throttle magnet part onto the tube that has the wiring. Then slide the locking ring onto the same tube. The tube will at this point need to be cut at the length determined be the two parts. The attached animation should show how this looks.
5. Cut a slot in the end of the tube about 10 mm long. Cut the tube at the opposite to the wiring. This allows the tube to be squeezed onto the handle bar when the locking ring is tightened.
6. Reassemble the parts with the spring between the throttle arm and the locking ring. You will find holes where you can insert the ends of the spring. It is not critical where the ends of the spring are inserted.
7 Place the throttle assembly onto the handlebar and reinstall your brake lever and grips. When you have everything in position turn the locking ring so that it tightens the spring to how you like it and then tighten the locking ring screw so the throttle does not move.
