Description

embercase

Is a redesign of a model I released a few months ago. The new design requires no assembly and has a more pocket friendly design making it perfect for EDC. You will need striking paper I ordered mine from amazon but you can also use the one that comes with the matches. A cut out template is included in the print.

Update

I have added a new print profile for the embercase XL. The new model is intended for storm matches and has a larger striking paper area. The assembly remains the same as the original embercase. I am working on a TPU seal for the cases and have one that i'm testing I will most likely have it posted by the end of the week.

I think that a version with some sort of seal (preferably printed out of TPU or similar soft filament) would be great for camping and stuff like that. This is still a pretty cool design though and I’ll print it.

hey thank you for the great feedback. I actually designed it to be able to have a TPU seal on the lid but since I didn’t have any TPU at the time when I was testing the prints I wasn’t able to test it so when I posted it I didn’t include it. I was planning on releasing the print file once I got my order in and tested it to make sure it works. 😄

10/10 model, did print it laying instead of standing. Both for little faster print time and bec I thought it looked better :) The regular/small matches we have here from Solstickan dont fit thou, so guess I have to find some medium ones. One critique thou, is that the light/fire area could be a bit wider, a bit too narrow imo. :) Edit: Saw that there is a XL version, so might try that one for the mig matches :D

how does one strike a match in that slotted side without breaking the end off the match?

Hey I included a link to a YouTube short in the description. I’m just showing the case and also light a match at the end it should be fairly effortless. I do have a question if you printed it are you using the striking paper that came with the box of matches or did you by any chance order striking paper off of Amazon. I’m only asking because sometimes the striking paper provided with the match boxes aren’t the best. I can include a link to the striking paper I ordered off of Amazon if you want.

looks great! I'd love to bring it camping. could you modify this to also have an isolated compartment for tinder? or make a separate companion model to hold tinder?

I like it but it would be nice to have one sized for storm matches too.

would you consider making another version with a cut slot (accessible from the top of the case when open) for the striker paper? this way it could be replaced easily rather than it being stuck or glued in.

Hi that sounds like something I could do. I had thought about that originally when I designed the case but it came with some drawbacks. 1: the striking paper could move around a bit due to the fact that it’s not attached to any surface and is just inserted. This wouldn’t be ideal when trying to strike a match. 2: The striking paper could get damaged when trying to insert it in the slot. if you still want a version with slots I can do that but you might find these issues. thank you for the suggestion and if you still want the insert version I could have that posted soon. 😁
