This bust represents Cyrus II the Great, founder of the Achaemenid Empire and one of the major figures of Eastern Antiquity. It is inspired by the best-known iconography associated with the sovereign, particularly traditional Persian representations showing the king wearing his characteristic tiara and sporting a carefully crafted royal beard.

The model emphasizes a faithful sculptural interpretation: marked volumes, deep facial lines, and a calm gaze convey the image of a thoughtful and determined leader. The facial proportions have been preserved to respect the physiognomy traditionally attributed to Cyrus, without excessive idealization, in the spirit of a historical sculpture.

Cyrus II (circa 600 – 530 BC), called Cyrus the Great, was the founder of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, the first truly multinational empire in History. He conquered Media, Lydia, then Babylon, while adopting an exceptional policy for his time: respect for conquered peoples, religious freedom, and cultural autonomy.

The famous Cyrus Cylinder is often considered one of the first texts to evoke human rights principles. His reign deeply marked the political organization of the Near East and durably influenced subsequent civilizations.

This bust is inspired by the most popular representation of the sovereign in order to offer a coherent and recognizable vision of this major historical figure.
