Description

This is a remix of the Elgato Wave 3 Microphone holder by MAD3D.

This upper bracket is meant to replace the entire plastic piece of the desk stand that would've came with your Elgato Wave 3 Microphone.

The metal base survives falls, but unfortunately, the plastic upper bracket is very fragile. The metal base is the only thing I know for sure is compatible with.

You can reuse your original hardware, you do not need the rubber pieces that were installed in the plastic upper bracket.

I printed this using PLA.

What I changed with this remix:

The original 3D file did the heavy lifting of providing a model that was pretty similar to the original plastic upper bracket. I also liked the stem was longer than other models, which would help with distributing weight and avoiding tipping over.

Some hiccups I encountered:

  • The inner diameter of the original 3D file was too small to fit over the stem that protrudes from the metal base.
  • The lack of support alongside the holes would sometimes create imperfect and purely cosmetic errors.

+ Increased the inner diameter of the stem to 11.5 mm , subsequently also increasing the outer diameter.

This change allows this upper bracket to fit snuggly directly over the stem from the metal base.

+ Added support inside of the inner diameter stem.

Added this for a more reliable print. Once peeled off, it leaves a "grip'' texture on the bottom side, this provides an even snugger fit, so strong that I am able to pick up the metal base, even with the Mic attached, from the upper bracket!

+Added support alongside the holes where you would mount the screws

Improves the reliability of the print's radius being more consistent.

To remove the printed support:
Simply peel it off. For the support printed inside the inner diameter, a pencil, pen, or any long object that can fit inside can be used to strip it off.
