This component allows you to lock or fix a shelf in all directions and works exclusively with shelf supports that have a 5mm diameter

For assembly, you will need

  1. 35mm Forstner drill bit (cup hinge bit)
  2. Drill press or drill stand

Assembly instructions

  1. Transfer the hole lines (center axis) to the underside of the shelf
  2. Mark the center of the hole (15mm from the outside inwards) - you can also use the component itself for marking (see images)
  3. Mark the drilling depth (10mm) - the component can also be used for marking this (see images)
  4. Load the drill press or drill stand with a 35mm Forstner drill bit, set it up, adjust it, and drill the hole

Do not forgo a test drill

  5. The component can now be pressed into the hole and should have a snug fit
  6. For precise alignment of the component, a 5mm drill bit can be used
  7. Depending on the application, wood glue or another adhesive can also be applied if needed

I designed this component to allow height adjustment for a drawer (containing a laptop) using hole rows

I conducted several break tests for this purpose and am quite confident that this component, when printed with PLA and combined with wood glue, should withstand the weight of a fully extended drawer, including a laptop otherwise, printing with PETG or other materials would also be worth considering

However, for securing a standard shelf, the component printed with PLA is perfectly sufficient without the use of adhesive

Regarding the locking mechanism (sliding of the cover plate), you might notice some stiffness during the first few attempts, but this will significantly reduce after a few uses if needed, you can also apply some candle wax

So

I am aware that this component may not be widely used, but you never know perhaps you'll need something exactly like this one day and then it will be there, which is what it's intended for : )

With that in mind, I wish you much success with your project
