Description

This model is a remix of: https://www.instructables.com/Solar-System-Orrery-3D-Printed/

This model is very accurate, with only a 0.1% deviation of the revolution of the planets.

Changes to the original model are:

  • Coloured planets and Textured Earth
  • All 3d printed files added into one .3mf file
  • Tube Bending tool added to help with bending of the tubes
  • A 15rpm motor instead of 100rpm, this does mean Saturn moves very slowly.
  • No lighting
  • A 0.2 nozzle was used for the gears, arms and planets, a 0.4 nozzle for the base and tube bending tool. It should be just fine with just a 0.4 nozzle but make sure to change the Nozzle settings in the file! The original model is from 2017, so 3D printers have improved a lot since then. Mine was printed on a A1 and the detail is so much nicer than on the original post.

For instruction, it's best to use the guide of the original model.

This is not an easy model to assemble. It is also not very hard, but does require some other tools and skills then just a 3d printer (e.g. soldering, sawing & bending the tubes, inserting the bearings, etc.). For me it was my first ‘not just 3d-printing’ model and I had a lot of fun creating and assembling it.
