Qin Shi Huang Bust

🇫🇷 Description (French)

This bust depicts Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China and founder of the Qin dynasty. It is directly inspired by the most widely recognized historical portrayal of the ruler, based on traditional Chinese imperial illustrations preserved through historical chronicles.

The sculpture emphasizes a determined and distinctive face: a fixed gaze, strong eyebrows, and a stern expression convey the absolute authority of the man who unified the Warring States into a single empire in 221 BC. The imperial headdress — symbol of the Mandate of Heaven — reinforces his divine sovereign status. The long, structured beard highlights the wisdom and determination traditionally associated with him.

Qin Shi Huang is renowned for standardizing writing, currency, and measurements across China, as well as initiating the construction of the Great Wall and building his vast mausoleum guarded by the Terracotta Army. This bust aims to capture the historical presence of the figure — not idealized, but as imagined by tradition — embodying both the founding power and the fear he inspired in his time.
