DANSŌ ダンソウ — Fault Line Planter

Where earth tears itself apart. Geometry interrupted by force.

DANSŌ (断層 / "Fault Line") captures the moment when tectonic forces rip 

through solid ground. Clean geometric bands are violently disrupted by 

vertical fractures — like a modernist sculpture caught in an earthquake. 

Order meets chaos. Structure meets rupture.

But here's the secret: those crisp horizontal bands aren't molded or carved 

— they're the 0.2mm layer lines themselves. And the vertical cracks? 

Designed to look like stress fractures, as if the pot survived geological 

violence. I'm transforming FDM's layer-by-layer nature into a narrative of 

destruction and resilience.

Like KOKUDŌ, DANSŌ is designed for serious plant growers. The fractured 

geometry creates natural drainage pathways. The shallow form is ideal for 

caudex plants like Pachypodium and Adenium, cacti, and habitat-style 

arrangements — where you recreate the raw desert landscape right in the pot. 

Those cracks aren't just aesthetic — they're functional vents for airflow 

and water escape.
