Half-Scale Triceratops Wall Skull – 1400mm

⚠️ I’ll be updating this project as the build progresses, so it’s worth collecting the model and following my page to see the full assembly, finishing and wall mounting come together.

This is a half-scale Triceratops skull, sliced lengthways to create a half-skull wall-mounted display piece.

Once assembled, it measures approximately 1100mm from the tip of the beak to the furthest point of the frill.

Even as a half skull, it’s enormous.

It’s designed specifically as a wall-mounted statement piece, which will become clearer as I complete and install the finished build.

🧩 Project Breakdown

• 18 build plates
• 35 parts
• Half skull (longitudinal slice)
• Approx. 1400mm long assembled at widest measurement
• Minimal supports required
• Printed successfully in ABS

All parts have printed cleanly in ABS with minimal supports.

I am assembling mine using:

• Neat acetone for structural solvent welding
• ABS acetone slurry (made from dissolved support material) for seam filling and reinforcement
• Careful dry fitting before committing to welds

📐 Assembly Guidance

The exploded STL file is the version you should use if you need help with assembly. It clearly shows how all 35 parts relate to one another and makes alignment far easier to visualise.

The exploded screenshot shown in the listing is simply there to give you an idea of the overall scale before downloading — the STL itself is the practical reference file.

📂 File Structure

• The included 3MF contains the full left half of the skull.
• The exploded STL contains the separated layout of all parts.

If you wish to print the opposite half instead:

1. Download the exploded STL
2. Mirror it along its length
3. Separate the parts
4. Print

This allows flexibility without needing a second dedicated mirrored file.

This isn’t a quick weekend project.
It’s a calm, methodical, alignment-heavy build designed to become a large-format wall feature.
