Solder Wire Holder

I teach electronics, and in the lab, the same thing always happens: the spool of solder (or any wire on a reel) is placed “on the fly”, rolls, gets tangled in the cables… and at the end of the activity, no one puts it back in its place. Result: messy bench, risk of bumps/falls, and wasted time searching for tools.

To solve this, a 3D Printed spool holder: zero supports, fast print, immediate use.

Since we have spools of different diameters in the lab, both for electrical wire and solder, I have transformed the design of this object into a mini 3D modeling educational activity: “each group prints and adopts an accessory”, so that students think about the organization and order of the spaces where they study and experiment.
